Allen Leads FAU with 19 in Win

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women’s basketball team (2-2) earned its way back into the win column on Friday night, taking down Florida Memorial, 104-73. FAU got the job done behind six Owls scoring double digits and 10 players registering points. The Owls also scored the most points in a single game since 2014.

  • Allen led the Owls in scoring for the third consecutive game, tallying 19 points. The guard also matched career highs in rebounds (nine) and 3-pointers (five), while earning a career-high five assists
  • Gaston was a perfect 7-7 from the field, scoring 14 points
  • Tylka followed with 13 points and a career-high seven boards
  • Rozentale came off the bench to record her second consecutive double digit scoring game with 13 points and six rebounds
  • Zaph logged 12 points, three assists and set a career-high four steals
  • Gordon was the sixth Owl in double digits with 10 points. The sophomore matched career-high numbers in rebounds (seven) and steals (four)
  • Gaye was just shy of a double-double, recording nine points and a season-high 14 rebounds. She matched a career-high four steals
  • Rita Pleskevich drew her first start as an Owl to record four assists. Nikola Ozola saw her first action of the season to tally four dimes, as well
  • Galeron had seven points and five boards
  • FAU’s 35 points in the third quarter is the most points scored by FAU in a quarter in school history
  • The Owls etched their way into the record book in several categories. FAU registered 40 field goals (fourth most in school history), 64 rebounds (third most) and 26 assists (fourth most)
  • With 104 points, the Owls scored the most points in a single game since 2014 when FAU defeated Webber International, 111-76
  • The Owls outrebounded the Lions (64-29)
  • FAU was hot from beyond the arc to score 12 3-pointers

“I think that we need to get better,” said head coach Jim Jabir. “I think our execution on offense and defense needs to improve, as well as our rotations. We fouled them way too many times and we should be getting better, easier shots. This was a good game for us though because it showed us what we need to do to continue to improve.”
