Allen Named to All-C-USA All-Conference First Team and All-Defensive Team
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Iggy Allen of the Florida Atlantic University women’s basketball (10-10, 8-8 in Conference USA) has been tabbed to the C-USA All-Conference First Team and All-Defensive Team, as announced by the league on Monday. Allen is the first Owl to earn First Team honors since the 2014-15 season, as well as the first to be called to the All-Defensive Team.
Allen has been lighting it up on all perimeters of the court this season. She is averaging a double-double with 22.4 points and 11.0 rebounds per game, while adding 47 steals and assists, as well as six blocks on the year. The guard has recorded 11 20-point contests, three of those being 30-point games, as well as 10 10+-rebound performances. Allen has tallied 10 double-doubles, which is the second most in C-USA and 34th in the NCAA.
Among C-USA players, the Pompano Beach, Florida native sits second in scoring and defensive rebounding (8.2) and third in rebounding, as well as fourth in steals (2.4) and 3-pointers per game (2.5). She is also ranked nationally in several categories, including scoring (13th), defensive rebounding (16th), field goals made with 170 (22nd) and 3-point field goal percentage at .408 (42nd).
Allen is a two-time C-USA Player of the Week this season. She recorded her first honor after the WKU series, where she averaged 27.0 points per game on 60 percent shooting along with 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. Allen became the first Owl in the program to earn two C-USA weekly awards following a three-game stretch (second UTEP game and Southern Miss series) where she averaged 21.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.
Allen becomes just the second Owl to receive C-USA First Team honors, with Shaneese Bailey being the only other student-athlete to do so following the 2014-15 season. She is also the seventh player in FAU’s days of belonging to C-USA to earn All-Conference status, and first to ever be named to the Defensive Team.
The Owls head to Frisco, Texas for the 2021 Air Force Reserve C-USA Women’s Basketball Championships. FAU will play the winner of the West Division play-in game between sixth-seeded UAB versus seventh-seeded UTSA on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
