WASHINGTON – GW women’s basketball head coach Jennifer Rizzotti announced the program’s signing class for the 2021-22 season on Wednesday, welcoming five new student-athletes to the Buff & Blue. The five-member recruiting class, Rizzotti’s largest in her five-year tenure, includes two guards – Taylor Golembiewski and Leila Patel, and three forwards – Andrea Daley, Sophie Haydon and Michelle Ojo.

“Recruiting through the COVID-19 pandemic created some new challenges for us, but I couldn’t be more thrilled with the five women who took a leap of faith and committed to playing for us here at GW,” Rizzotti said. “This class is versatile, competitive and high character, and I can’t wait to get them in GW uniforms.”

Daley becomes the first Floridian to don the Buff & Blue since Shannon Cranshaw and Hannah Schaible graduated in 2017. She earned Second Team All-State and First Team All-County honors as a junior, averaging 12.8 ppg and 8.1 rpg while advancing to the state semifinals with national powerhouse Miami Country Day. She also previously earned Honorable Mention All-County recognition as a sophomore and competes on the Nike EYBL circuit with the Miami Suns.

Coach Rizzotti on Andrea: “Andrea fits the mold of many of our highly successful forwards of the past. She is an elite athlete who creates easy offense both with her defensive rebounding and her ability to run the floor, offensive rebound and get us layups. I can’t wait to watch her grow her outside game at the college level and become a matchup nightmare.”
