Fitzroy Anthony Accepts Position at FAU

Team Folwes Head Coach and a long-time Miami Sun, Fitzroy Anthony has been hired as an Assistant Coach at Florida Atlantic University.

Anthony, a Boca Raton native, comes to FAU after earning Broward County Coach of the Year honors at Coral Springs Charter School, where his teams had consecutive 20-win seasons. Last winter, Coral Springs captured its first district and regional championships, along with a Final Four state tournament appearance.

Besides high school, Anthony also recently coached the Miami Suns AAU team to the National Junior Gold Showcase championship.

“Fitzroy has a passion and drive to be the best,” said Lewis-Jay. “His energy will be infectious across our staff and team. He has great connections throughout Florida, especially in the southwest region, will help our recruiting efforts.”

Anthony is excited to continue his coaching career in Boca Raton with Lewis-Jay and the Owls.

“As a Boca Raton native, I am eager to represent FAU and contribute to its rising success,” said Anthony. “I am very excited that Coach Lewis-Jay has selected me for this coveted position.”

Coach Fitz, the basketball mastermind in the Suns Organization, has been a vital part of the Suns success over the last few years. Fitz has help propel Team Fowles to a national ranking and has developed one of the strongest and deepest girls basketball organizations in the nation. The Miami Suns organization would like to thank Coach Fitz for his years of hard work, dedication, persistence and sharing his ability to teach the game of basketball the right way. Coach Fitz will be greatly missed and the Suns Organization wishes him the best of luck at FAU.
