Congratulations to University of South Florida Guard Maria Alvarez on being named Co-American Athletic Conference Sixth Player of the Year!

Alvarez, a sophomore guard, has played in 16 of USF’s 18 games this season while coming off the bench in 15 of those outings. She is averaging 7.8 points per game, 1.8 rebounds per outing, and just under one assist per game. Alvarez has scored in double figures in four games – including 18 points against Baylor and a career-high 23 against Houston – and her 39.0 percent shooting average from behind the three-point arc is third in The American.
