nike_logoWIt is with an utmost sense of pride and accomplishment that the entire Miami Suns Youth Development Organization proudly announces the recent selection of their Miami Suns Girls Basketball program as being one of just 32 teams in the entire United States to become an officially Nike Sponsored Program, as well as a member of the Nike Girls Elite Youth Family.

As a result of hard work and dedication, this prestigious recognition will further improve the entire Miami Suns family by giving all of our teams an opportunity to compete against other highly competitive and nationally ranked Nike Sponsored teams throughout the Spring and Summer season. Nike will be announcing the details of the EYBL in February.

The Miami Suns Youth Development Organization would like to thank every member of the girls’ basketball family.  Since day one, our Miami Suns girls’ basketball teams have always left it all on the hardwood, as well as in the classroom.  With an alumni that includes the likes of Sylvia Fowles, Erlana Larkins, Erica White, Raigyne Moncrief, Kai James, Brittany Brown, Brittany Dinkins, Aisha Edwards, Shakoa Edwards, Danneal Ford and Keyanna Harris, just to name a few; there is no doubt this partnership will only enhance the Miami Suns ability to bring out the best in each of their student athletes, with the ultimate goal of guiding them towards a collegiate scholarship and for some, like Sylvia Fowles, Erlana Larkins and Erica White, a potential to play with the best in the world in the WNBA and across the entire global landscape of women’s professional basketball.

As described by Miguel Diaz, Miami Suns Youth Development Program Director, “We are extremely appreciative and excited to earn the honor of being one of just thirty two programs that were selected to be a part of the Nike Girls Elite Youth Family.  Through this recognition and sponsorship, our girls will have an unprecedented and extraordinary opportunity to compete against the best players in the country, and do so on some of the biggest stages that the spring and summer have to offer.  We thank Nike for this opportunity, and look forward to the challenge that awaits us.”

Head Coach of the Miami Suns Team Fowles, Erika Haney, added to that, saying “We are very excited to be a part of the Nation’s elite basketball family!  The Miami Suns Organization is committed to changing the lives of our athletes by giving them the opportunity to enhance character, accountability, responsibility and most importantly, by helping every member of the program work towards the ultimate goal of earning a college scholarship.”

In recent years, the Miami Suns girls’ basketball teams have won several elite, nationally recognized tournaments.  And with this prestigious, well deserved Nike sponsorship, there is no doubt the future is only going to be bigger, better and brighter for the entire Miami Suns Youth Development Organization.
