FORT MYERS, Fla.Aaliyah Stanley, a 5-6 sophomore guard who transferred in from Eastern Michigan University in the offseason, has received a waiver for immediate eligibility this year and should make an immediate impact on a roster that is looking to replace over 90 percent of its scoring.

Stanley averaged 12.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.1 assists over 18 games with Eastern Michigan last year. She shot 37-for-109 (.339) from long distance and finished as the team’s second-leading scorer behind 11 double-digit scoring efforts. She produced a season-high 24 points vs Southeast Missouri on Nov. 19 and Illinois-Chicago on Dec. 18, and she added 20 against Wichita State on Dec. 7.

“We are really happy that Aaliyah received a waiver,” FGCU head coach Karl Smesko said. “She is a talented player and has the potential to become a very good player for us.”
