Miami Suns Academy

Mission Statement: The Miami Suns Academy wants to build the next generation of girls basketball leaders in South Florida. We seek to introduce aspiring girls basketball players looking to improve their game and fundamentals to the best coaching, player development resources, and local competition. Additionally, the Suns Academy seeks to present its players with experiences that build leadership skills and expose players to healthy athletic competition that supports their broader goals and interests beyond basketball.

Description: The Miami Suns Academy, established in 2022, is a subdivision of the Miami Suns, a non-profit organization created to leverage basketball to provide young ladies from Florida with skills and opportunities required to succeed in their personal and professional careers. The Suns Academy focuses on developing 4th through 12th grade girls into skilled basketball players and providing relevant opportunities for players to reach their full basketball potential. With an emphasis on fundamentals and skill development, the Suns Academy offers an environment to develop as a player within the ecosystem of a nationally recognized program.

Players will have access to the broader Miami Suns coaching staff and network, and individual trainings will focus on ball handling, shooting, footwork, and speed agility. Beyond basketball-specific skills, participating in the Miami Suns Academy will expose players to broader leadership opportunities and competitive experiences.

Who is eligible to participate?

The Miami Suns Academy is open to 4th through 12th grade girls in South Florida. Practices, games, and tournaments will be held locally without the need to travel.

Will I be required to attend a tryout?

No – tryouts are not required to participate in the Suns Academy.

PARTICIPATION AUTHORIZATION AND RELEASE
In exchange for permission to participate in this Miami Suns Academy, I hereby enter into the following release and waiver of liability, assumption of risk and indemnity agreement. I, for myself, my heirs, spouse, executors, administrators, personal representatives and assignees, waive, release, discharge, indemnify, hold harmless and agree not to sue the Miami Suns or the Miami Suns Academy, its officers, directors, shareholders, employees, agents, landlords, lessees, sponsors, representatives, volunteers, affiliates and franchisees (hereafter the "Released Parties") from, any and all liability, responsibility, damages, losses, claims, demands, actions, suits, judgments, costs and expenses (including attorneys’ fees) resulting from personal injury, accidents, illnesses, death and/or property loss caused in any manner, including the simple, active or passive negligence of the Released Parties, by my participation in this Academy. I acknowledge that participation in the Suns Academy is designed to stress my body physically. I knowingly assume all risks relating to my participation in the Suns Academy. I knowingly execute this agreement freely and voluntarily, and intend by my signature to be a complete and unconditional release of all liability to the greatest extent allowed by law. I have read this agreement, fully understand its terms, and understand that I am giving up substantial rights, including my right to sue. This agreement is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by law. If any portion of this agreement is held invalid, the remaining portions will continue in full force and effect.
